Captain Ben Dinsmore is the founder and editor of The Maritime Site.

He currently sails as Captain/OIM on a large oil exploration and research vessel (drillship) operating in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

He is a 1999 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, former lieutenant in the United Stated Navy Reserve (honorable discharge), a USCG licensed Master Mariner of Unlimited Tonnage, a USCG licensed Offshore Installation Manager (Unrestricted) and a graduate of the the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.).

His writings have appeared in a variety of maritime trade publications including Professional Mariner and gCaptain and he is the author of the eBook How to Get a Job on an Offshore Oil Rig.

On his days off he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, golfing, cruising around Casco Bay [Maine] in his family’s Grady White, and writing maritime related articles for this site.

He lives in Maine with his wife and three children.
